What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points on the body by the insertion of fine needles.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, the body has 12 main meridians through which energy, or Qi (氣) flows. Excess, deficient or obstructed Qi causes pain or dysfunction. Acupuncture treatment balances and moves the energy to effect change in Qi. Furthermore, acupuncture stimulates your body to release natural pain killers and hormones to accelerate the healing process.
Is it Painful?
When acupuncture needles are inserted into the body, patients often report a mild tingling sensation — not pain. For many, the feeling is completely unnoticeable.
How Safe is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is extremely safe. It is a drug-free therapy, yielding no side effects, except feelings of relaxation and stability. There is no danger of infection from the acupuncture needles; they are sterile, used once, and disposed of after use.
